TNPSC Group 2 / 2A Syllabus: Mains Exam
The TNPSC Group 2 Mains Exam have two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is qualifying in nature while Paper II is both scoring and qualifying in nature.
- ➤ The marks secrued in the Mains exam will be considered for the final merit list.
- ➤ This exam is divided in 2 papers: Paper I and Paper II.
- ➤ Paper I: This paper have 2 questions for each Tamil to English Translation and English to Tamil Translation.
- ➤ Paper II: It has 15 questions, 3 each from Precis Writing, Comprehension, Hints Development and Essay Writing on ‘Thirukkural’ and Letter writing.
- ➤ Paper I is only qualifying in nature. Those who qualify Paper I, there Paper II sheet will be evaluated.
- ➤ Minimum 102 and 90 marks required to qualify in group 2 and group 2A main exams respectively.
- ➤ TNPSC Group 2 exam is bilingual that available in both the English and Tamil languages.

TNPSC Group 2 / 2A Syllabus: Mains Exam
The TNPSC Group 2 Mains Exam have two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is qualifying in nature while Paper II is both scoring and qualifying in nature.
- ➤ The marks secrued in the Mains exam will be considered for the final merit list.
- ➤ This exam is divided in 2 papers: Paper I and Paper II.
- ➤ Paper I: This paper have 2 questions for each Tamil to English Translation and English to Tamil Translation.
- ➤ Paper II: It has 15 questions, 3 each from Precis Writing, Comprehension, Hints Development and Essay Writing on ‘Thirukkural’ and Letter writing.
- ➤ Paper I is only qualifying in nature. Those who qualify Paper I, there Paper II sheet will be evaluated.
- ➤ Minimum 102 and 90 marks required to qualify in group 2 and group 2A main exams respectively.
- ➤ TNPSC Group 2 exam is bilingual that available in both the English and Tamil languages.

- After conducting the exam successfully, the TNPSC Answer Key is released. It gives the candidates to tally their answers and thereby raise objections if any.
- Two types of question papers will be set.
Type- 1:-: General Studies (75 items) + Aptitude & Mental Ability Test (25 items) and General
English (100 items).
Type-2:-: General Studies (75 items) + Aptitude & Mental Ability Test (25 items) and General
Tamil (100 items) - Candidates are given the option to choose either General Tamil or General English for answering the second 100 items apart from answering the first (75+25)100 items on General Studies and Aptitude & Mental Ability Test
- There is no negative marking in the TNPSC Group 4 exam.

VAO
This examination is exclusively for the recruitment of Village Administrative Officers.
It is also an objective type examination consisting of General Studies and one has to choose General Language either Tamil / English.
Language paper English consist of three sections viz., Part A – Grammar, B – Literature and C – Authors and their Literary Works.

There will be questions on village administrative units for twenty-five marks.
Since educational qualification is SSLC level questions will be direct, simple and school text book in nature.
It is a direct single examination clearing of this with maximum marks guarantees government service.
